Deep in the forest – where it becomes increasingly impassable and where the trees stand ever closer together and deep valleys cut through the landscape – there is where bandits used to hide. And the Swabian Forest is full of such hideaways, where two hundred years ago, one could encounter such characters as “Schinderhannes”, the “Fetzer” or the “krummen Hannfriedel”. Today, there are hiking trails here along which young and old can experience the breath-taking natural spectacle of ravines and gorges.
