Bodenbachschlucht Spiegelberg

The Bodenbachschlucht is one of the wildest and most unspoilt gorges in the Swabian Forest. You can climb down into the rocky gorge – provided you have suitable footwear – over stairs, secured narrow paths and small bridges. The valley walls are steep with projecting rocks and ledges from which blocks occasionally break off and fall into the gorge. The evergreen woods with many mosses and ferns are very close to the original forest scene before humans began to use and alter the region. After approximately 700 metres, the gorge becomes “tamer”, and the dirt track encounters a forestry road. A path leads around a ridge to descend gently to the neighbouring Dentelbach gorge.

Hint: the Bodenbachschlucht lies along the “Swabian Forest Trail”, or the “Idyllic Route (Tour M)”.
