Murrhardt is seen as the city of painters. You can get a good impression of this in the municipal art collection (Städtische Kunstsammlung), which has been housed since 1989 in the Heinrich von Zügel hall in the public library in the town centre. Here, the works of all the artists born in Murrhardt or who have a close connection with the city are presented. The collection shows how many artists  of many different personalities have been drawn to the city and its beautiful surrounding countryside in the past as well as in the present.
